READ THE PASSAGE
Central Truth
Scripture and following Christ just makes sense! The best way to reach people even if they are against you is not screaming. It's about showing them the wisdom that is found in truth. Just share the good sense that is found in Him and they will see something different.
Reflections
As I read this story of Stephen being seized I am just reminded you can never have too much truth stored in your heart. In early passages it talks about Stephen being a man FULL of God's grace and power! But of course opposition arose in the town due to his following Jesus. I can almost see these men thinking they were so FULL of "something", grabbing him, and getting ready to really tell him he needed to stop! But as these "smart" men began to argue with Stephen the scripture says they could not continue. He was so full of wisdom from the Spirit of God! WOW! Men began to lie against him and even find false witnesses to testify against him, all the while Stephen's face looking like an angel.
I got a feeling if this happened to most of us the face of an angel may not have been what people might have seen! I know many of us know what it is like to have opposition in times when we know God has called us to do something. For me I am there right now! I have found just like this story that it is true! If we are full of Him and His Spirit, people can talk and carry on all they want. But we will still come out on top through Him! I think the hardest thing to do is always keep our life in check so that when opposition or a tough call comes we can have that truth and wisdom ready to go instead of having to run and find it. Chances of being seized in Dallas are small, but needing His Spirit for our daily lives is HUGE! Remember we must seek to be filled daily!
Discussion Questions
1. How do I react to opposition?2. What do I need to do to be filled with God's Spirit?
3. Do I have someone who can check up on me to make sure I am seeking God and not my own agenda?

Wow! That hit the spot. Thanks for your words of encouragement. I definetly want to be more like Stephen. By the way, thanks for "Leading" worship on Sundays, instead of just playing music. I'm glad you didn't ignore God's calling for your life. It a blessing to so many. Thank God your part of our family. In Christ alone, David

Great reminder for us Jason...to fill ourselves with God, not anything this world has to offer. We are so glad to have you and your family with us at Fellowship. Thanks for helping me on this journey. Have a blessed day!!

What an amazing thought, that they were "unable to cope with the Spirit and with the wisdom with which he was speaking." May God fill you with His Spirit so you never feel the pressure of an exhausting religious performance.

Jason, I loved the title: God's got your back! That's a good thing to remember when I'm tempted to take on a difficult situation in my own power.
